What is Open Graph?

Open Graph is a protocol created by Facebook that enables web pages to become rich objects in social media feeds. When someone shares your URL on Facebook, LinkedIn, or other platforms, Open Graph tags control how the link preview looks — including the title, description, and image.

Without Open Graph tags, social platforms will try to guess what content to display, often resulting in missing images or incorrect descriptions.

Essential Open Graph Tags

The four required tags are: og:title, og:type, og:image, and og:url. Additional tags like og:description, og:site_name, and og:locale further improve your link previews.

For images, use at least 1200x630 pixels for best display across all platforms.
